Arriving by Air?

The closest international airport to Whidbey is SEA/TAC near Seattle. Rental cars are available at the airport, but if you'd rather sit back and watch the scenery, two shuttle services are available: Whidbey-SeaTac Shuttle www.seatacshuttle.com and Shuttle Express www.shuttleexpress.com. Be sure to review both options, because services and fees differ.

Whidbey-SeaTac Shuttle provides direct service between SeaTac and Whidbey Island. Advance reservations are required. For reservations, call 360-679-4003 or toll free at 877-679-4003.

Shuttle Express runs 24 hours a day. Advance reservations are recommended, but not required when arriving at SeaTac. They are necessary for the return trip. When you arrive at the airport, look for the Shuttle Express booth by following ground transportation check-in signs. Tell your driver that your destination is the Mukilteo/Whidbey Island Ferry. You'll be dropped off at the ferry landing where you can purchase your ticket and walk on the ferry. For Shuttle Express reservations, call 425-981-7000.

When Should I Arrive at the Conference?

The conference begins Friday, February 29, 2008 at 9 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church (TLC), however, you'll need to check in and pick up your registration packet before then. If you arrive Thursday, you can avoid the crowd by checking in Thursday evening at the TLC between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Otherwise, you can pick up your packet at the TLC between 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. Friday. The conference ends Sunday at 1 p.m. You may, of course, choose to arrive early or extend your stay. Winters on Whidbey are our quiet season and the perfect writer's retreat. Check out our Preconference Workshops.
